Be Not Deceived
Dear friend of many years
Who stood the test of time with so much tears
Was it really twelve years ago
That we attended school together since 'Ábordzokpo'
I don't know about you
But I think I was seven and two
You'd asked what I'd do when you're gone
I gave you no feedback now that you're done
I do remember our quiet times in the cave
And I'm so sorry to remind you of my stubborn brother, Dave
Those memories kept coming any time I try to think
Like we're again at the club house when I hear glasses clink
I now know you're not the kind of friend to lose
But this hard life left us without merit than to choose
You'd n'er enter not business without charitable heart
That's one thing admired me of you from the start
I wish I could just turn back the hands of time
For I would no other age than being at nine with a dime
So we could be friends again
Like we'd worry ourselves over that ole chain
I accused you of being ruthless just 'cause you're teeny
But you proved me wrong by pursuing your own destiny
I was impressed with the piece of letter to me you write
In response, I was at lectures with A.B. on my right
He smiles uneasily every time he read my lines rhyme
He wonders if I could keep it up till the end of time
YES! I chose not to do without the pen
'cause the lesser the sword the mightier becomes of the pen
In spite of the distance, it still keeps us nearer
Brings laughter to our heart and makes the nerves healthier
May misfortune stay far from you than the East is from the West
And let's pray God for His time is the best
He could carry the burdens from our chest
If we could put Him first
And in wine let's merry like the flosser
'cause it's the only thing that keep men closser
But to the devil may we n'er live like the tosser
So that at the end, we could all shout '' IT'S O V E R !''
